Reasons To Do Implants
The 3 most common reasons for using dental implants:
#1. A full denture that is loose and causing sore spots, especially one that cannot be worn at all, is the most compromising dental problem. There are two solutions to this problem that use dental implants.

An "Overdenture" that snaps into place over two or more implants and can be removed by the patient.

A more stable "Fixed Detachable Bridge" that is "bolted" into place onto 4 to 8 implants and can be removed by the dentist as needed.

#2. When a patient wishes to avoid wearing a removable partial denture with clasps, but does not have natural teeth on both sides of the area surrounding the missing teeth. Implants are used to place a more natural looking and stable fixed porcelain bridge.

For example, a less stable and unattractive removable partial denture worn to replace the last two teeth.

The partial denture can be replaced with natural and stable crowns fitted onto implants.

#3. When a patient with missing teeth could use more "roots" to anchor prosthetic restorations, implants can be added to provide those "roots".

Mixed" Prosthetic Solution:
This patient had two natural teeth left and decided to have a mix of implants, crowns, and removable partial dentures. This shows that many different combinations of treatment are possible to accomplish a stable, functional, and esthetically pleasing prosthetic solution.
